Your licence can be current, your van can be booked, and your first servo pie can be cooling on the dash — and you may still be illegal 20 km down the road. That is the awkward bit with a restricted licence for older drivers in NSW.

In everyday speech, yes, people often mean the same thing. NSW commonly uses the term modified licence for older drivers who keep driving within an approved local area instead of holding an unrestricted licence.
Can an 85-year-old from NSW drive a hired motorhome interstate?
Yes, if they hold the right class of licence and it is unrestricted, or the conditions specifically allow that travel. If they have a local-area modified licence, an interstate campervan trip will almost certainly be outside the permitted conditions.
Does a Class C licence cover a motorhome in Australia?
