A great ocean road 7 day campervan trip that doesn’t rush the good bits

The drive, broken down

1. Day 1: Melbourne to Torquay or Anglesea105 km · 1 hr 30

   Collect the van, stock up near Geelong, then make the first night easy near the surf coast.

2. Day 2: Torquay to Lorne47 km · 1 hr 10

   Short kilometres, big views: Bells Beach, Aireys Inlet lighthouse and slow bends into Lorne.

3. Day 3: Lorne to Apollo Bay46 km · 1 hr

   Add waterfall walks if your hire conditions allow the access roads and the weather is behaving.

4. Day 4: Apollo Bay to Port Campbell98 km · 2 hr

   Cross the Otways, stop at Gibson Steps, then see the Twelve Apostles late in the day.

5. Day 5: Port Campbell to Port Fairy88 km · 1 hr 20

   Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge and Warrnambool make this a slow, excellent coastal day.

6. Day 6: Port Fairy to Halls Gap155 km · 2 hr

   Turn inland for the Grampians; book a legal campground and watch for kangaroos at dusk.

7. Day 7: Halls Gap to Melbourne255 km · 3 hr 20

   Leave early, empty the cassette, refill fuel and allow time for van return checks.
