The drive, broken down

1. Day 1: Hobart shakedown25–60 km · 45 min–1 hr 30

   Collect the van, stock up at a supermarket and bottle-o, then sleep somewhere easy with power.

2. Days 2–3: Hobart to Tasman Peninsula95 km · 1 hr 30

   Port Arthur, sea cliffs and a sensible first proper camp without pushing the van too hard.

3. Days 3–4: Tasman Peninsula to Freycinet205 km · 3 hr

   Follow the east coast through Orford and Swansea; arrive before dark if you want campground peace.

4. Day 5: Freycinet to Bay of Fires115 km · 1 hr 45

   Short drive, big reward: beaches, orange lichen rocks and legal camping only where signed.

5. Day 6: Bay of Fires to Launceston165 km · 2 hr 40

   Climb inland via Scottsdale, top up fuel and supplies, and give the batteries a powered-night breather.

6. Days 7–8: Launceston to Cradle Mountain145 km · 2 hr 20

   Slow mountain roads, shuttle buses in the park, and cold nights that reward a proper heater.

7. Days 9–10: Cradle Mountain to Hobart via Strahan and Mt Field420 km total · 6 hr 15 total

   Split it over two days: west coast rainforest, Queenstown bends, then a final easy run into Hobart.
